A purely hypothetical bike price question.

I have, as you know, a J1 (2000) ZX-6R which is, after 40k miles, in very
scruffy condition. Both tyres are shagged as are the chain and sprockets.
Its MOT is due and I suspect that the rear shock can't have much life left
in it and that the front discs are close to their limit.

The garage/independent bike dealer that I use has a 2000 'Blade (in black)
on a Y plate that looks very smart. Its tyres probably only have a few
hundred miles left in them, but other than that it's hard to fault.

The Blade is marked up at 2,995 and Daryl, the owner of the business, has
offered me 1,500 for my bike, as it stands at the moment.

So - good deal or not?

Never. He should be giving _you_ money because you're giving up a
    Kawasaki for a Honda.

I just spoke to him on the phone and he'll do me 1,250 price to change for
    cash on Monday.

But it would add 100 to my insurance for the year.

All I have to do now is persuade Lisa.

    So close and yet ...

  4. At this time of year, yeah, very good, assuming the paint is standard.

If it isn't, then there's a good chance the Blade has been totalled at
some time, and it's not sduch a good deal.

Stick with 1,500 and get him to put some new tyres on the Blade as well.

Good price for a dealer assuming the mileage isn't too high (20k+).

Owing to Daryl's particular brand of masochism if it wasn't the Blade it
would have to be a 748, because he's got about 4 of them in, but nothing
    else I'd be interested in.

Unless you think I'd suit an Africa Twin.

Retail, yes. I'd be very surprised if a dealer pays anywhere near that
    much for them.

You're being ripped off mate - a pair of BT014s fitted is under 200 notes.

I don't know how much they are because I've never bought them. The last
3 pairs of tyres I'bought have been Azaro3s and they came in at 180 quid
    fitted, balanced etc etc.

150 for me. I paid 125 for a pair on eBay and had them fitted to loose
wheels by the bike shop 100 yards away, for 25 quid.
