Apart from painting the stairs, I've found the opportunity to do a bit of fettling on the Z200. Pulled out the swingarm and greased the bearings, reassembled with new shocks, chain adjusted and lubed, tyre pressures checked, oil checked etc. The chain really needs replacing - it's little better than knicker elastic, and the only good bit is the split link. Rear and brake lights have ceased to function. Headlight and indicators work, so probably a dicky earth. The bodged H4 currently in the headlight was good enough to get me home from Folkstone, but the original fitment would be better. The pilot light is also dead, and I may replace this with one of they 20watt jobbies, which will look like a proper dipped beam when on tour. Some of the instrument bulbs need a good coat of looking at too. I reckon also to change the fork oil and fit these gaiters what I have acquired. Then I'll be looking to redo the seat, and the TransEurope Express will be ready for its next bout of continent-crushing.
