A nice (short) DFW area ride yesterday

Having just gotten Bike out of the shop (bad speedo and sensor) I felt I
had to give it a little test ride.

Working in NRH I decided to cruise up Precint Line instead of going up hwy
26 to Grapevine. I followed it up as it turned into Davis then into
Randol Mill. Going through Westlake had some nice sharp turns - posted
20mph, Bike took them about 30-35 just fine.

Finally ended up on 114 west of GV. Headed west until I hit the 170
cutoff. Took 170 until 377 and decided to head south through Keller. Saw
that the Up in Smoke BBQ was still in existance and seems to be doing
well. I wonder if they're still as good as they were a few years ago.

Called the spousel unit to see what she was doing and if she wanted to
hook up at one of out (new) favorite restraunts - Old Prarie House in
Roanoke. We met there and had lunch - excellent Buffalo burgers, BTW -
    then headed home.

There was some trucks taking 1171 east so I opted to cruise up 377 a bit
further and take 407 into Flower Mound. Went past the "Bill Cattell
Memorial Haybale" spot which brought up some fond memories ($%%$#&#$@@!&*%
    pickup truck).

Onto 407 which has a nice, wide open straitaway going past Lantana. Of
course I thought it was time to see if Bike's new speedo would register
speeds in the 'higher' range... it does. I'm impressed by the Road King's
braking - 90 to 50 in a few seconds with total control. ;-)

Bike is working well, mid-afternoon traffic was light and the weather was
excellent. It was an excellent day.

    Cheers to all;

    Bill

Heckuva nice little ride, Bill.. Good report..

Those RoadKings are sure sweet, aren't they ? You never know how much
you depend on that speedo until it don't work right.. lol.. My Vulcan has a
chronic speedo problem that has been causing a bunch of folks to scratch
    their heads, for years..

Glad to see you out and about, then writing about it.. Regards

A big "roger" about the speedo. The Sportster I had a few years ago lost
it's speedo during the school year. I hated going through a school zone -
especially with noone else around me.

The bear about the RK is that it has a gas gauge that isn't really that
accurate. I tend to still monitor the trip gauge. Wtih the trip gauge
    out I was really hosed.

Bjay here: He Bill C. Well, it's nice reading a ride report from a TxMo
    newbie, (so to speak).

Hope you will continue to be active on this txmoto group.

Yup, I was real active in here a few years ago - lots of Biker / Texas
politics. I slacked off for a few years but started jumping back in a few
    months ago.
