They do and they often use English names and are trained in using
    'regional' accents.

  10. Don't expect any luck phoning the Customs and Excise office at the Royal
Mail head office at Mount Pleasant. Very few people there speak English
as a first language. After being passed around till some one could speak
to me in clear English the guy gave me a list of three direct numbers
that would put me through to people who spoke English as a first
language if I had any further inquiries to make.

  16. So you had some higher education then?
    which excluded spelling lessons!?

I don't normally correct spelling on here but given the critical
comments being made about people resident in far off lands not quite
speaking the Queen's english I find it just a bit rich that we aren't
able to spell the same language correctly.

I do consider that to be slightly petty. I've made one mistake[1] in
five paragraphs, and as the post was about having a basic understanding
of the information that's being given/received, not how it's written
    down, it's a tenuous point.

Oh, and no, my higher education didn't and still doesn't include
    spelling lessons.

The one who just phoned me up asking if I needed a mobile 'phone
    didn't bother.

I almost accused him of being one of you lot, taking the piss.
