A mechanically type question thing.

He was obviously completely mechanically incompetent.

  3. The older Trumf triples are like that - the main frame tube runs right
across the top of the centre pot.

A common question on the Yahoo Tiger group used to be "where can I get
a plug spanner to use on the centre plug - none of mine fit". I could
always visualise the red face when they were told to use the one in the
    bike's toolkit :)

  5. I was faffing with an early Sprint belonging to an erstwhile poster -
can't remember who it wa snow. The bloody spanner was m,issing from his
toolkit, and I had to molish something out of an antique box spanner and
    a 17mm open-ender. Jeez.

Nothing as crazy as trying to change the plugs on Ant's old NC35,
    though.

You might and I'm sure you'd be happy to do one for me, but by the time I
drive to Bedford and back to pick it up I'll probably have blown my £2.50
    budget.

Yeah, but that's a proper sized bike, not a mincy little 600.

I bet the little gixxers are a PITA.

Feeler gauges are for amateurs. Any mechanic worth his spanners can do
it by eye. (That's what I'm going to tell AndrewR while I drink his
    beer, anyway.)

Well, the Thou is about 10mm wider and longer overall but that's about
it. I doubt there is that much difference is external engine size.

Oh, and I was basing my comment on the 750 as I've done a
plugs/oil/filter change on that. Haven't done one on the Thou yet but
    I don't imagine it's much different.

Oh they are. They fit 6 pot Tokico's for a start. And they use 4mm
hex-key bolts in all the places where you really need them to be at
    least 5mm to avoid rounding.

Yeah, but Kawasaki do that too - or they did on AndrewR's bike, anyway -
as well as hiding everything away in small spaces that require you to
have a n-dimensional wrist to get at them.

    Eddie says...
Not quite xactly, but near as dammit. The gixer 6 is one of the easiest
600s to work on, due to having a very wide frame and a comparitively
    narrow engine.
