  3. Rendezvous? Nope, it's all good. It caused a stink at the time, but ffs
it was filmed at about 6am on a Sunday morning, iirc.

That's a crap copy, btw. On the proper version you get a much better
idea of the speeds of other vehicles, which point to the speed of the
camera car - reputedly 140mph on some bits.

Hmmmph. If you time it on the Avenue Hoche (going up to the Arc of
Triumph), he takes 35 seconds to travel 1.20km, ie 123km/h average.
Going to to Place de la Concorde, that's 60 seconds for 1.90km, 114km/h
average. Fast, but no terribly so. Engine sounds and low camera do a lot
to make one feel the speed.

Feels like an ordinary day on the bike in Paris then. :)

Yep... I remember doing a better time on the Avenue Foch (mistake in my
original post) a loooong time ago :)

  8. Ah well, there's no substitute for actually measuring it. This lot
disagree, but they've been doing it secondhand, as it were.

Indeed. Anyone who remembers the first time they sat in an old rusty
Mini with a Janspeed lump will agree.

It feels much longer when you walk it. The Irish embassy is there, and
when I went to get a new passport, being a numpty, walked past it, all
the way (almost) down to Courcelles, and back up.

The Irish Embassy issues French passports? How odd.

Is the notion of 'dual nationality' familiar to you, you idiot?

    Indeed it is.

I was more surprised that someone who so utterly "french" would *want*
    an Irish passport.

Oh c'mon, be reasonable. Clearly the more nationalities and minority
groups you hold the more neuroses and persecution complexes are open
    to you.

If I remember my Roddy Doyle correctly, the Irish *are* the blacks of
    Europe.
