    Change its spots that is

Our cat as always had white paws but a couple of days ago a dark patch
started to appear on one of her paws. I though she was just dirty from
playing in the woods but as it hadn't shifted I had a look properly
yesterday and it seems a patch about 2"x1" is changing from white to
black. Anyone confirm that this is normal?

IME our Siamese used to get darker as they got older, more the colour of
the points all over the body

Other cats I have know get whiter in the same way that I am gaining a
distinguished head of silver hair :)

maybe the cat's been hanging around with the local chav's and it's cannabis
    resin burns on her paws....

IIRC this is a sign that the area has reduced temperature - dunno if it's
so's the sun's rays get absorbed more easily or not? - but in show cats, a
lot of white cats are saved from the vets' knives because operations cause a
dark line in the fur wher the scar has reduced blood flow. Maybe puss's
arteries are furring up, or her feet have been getting cold?

I understand this is the case, especially with Siamese.

She's only 18 months old but does play out pretty much all night up in the
woods. It has been a bit colder of late but not freezing or anything. I
would have expected all her paws to change if this was the case. Plus she
is about 75% black so I don't think she is cold. She also prefers to be
cold than warm. She goes out of the room if the heating is on, and sits in
the shade if the sun is out.

    Thanks anyway.
