    Quite, but the Chinese also regard the start of their New Year as a
    Spring Festival which strikes a chord with me. I particularly like some
    of their descriptions for sub-divisons of the calendar.

    For example, 'yú shàng bing'; literally: "fish swim upward near ice".

    (There are a few days either side of it where the sun doesn't get above
    the horizon at Mawson.)
