Wow, reading that after I've spent the past week playing GT4 and reading
their guides on how to pass various stages ... cognitive dissonance, yeah
    baby.

It's just seems, to me, if the injury/accident figures are correct- that
that road really isn't that bad in terms of bike accidents.

Especially considering the number and manner in which it's used by said
    bikes :)

That's pretty cool. Almost like a track guide for the road.

Wonder if we could get Northumbria Police to do some for the roads we
(used to) ride regularly: "This bend is a sharp uphill left-hander.
There is usually a dead sheep on the apex, so go wide on the entrance
    and turn-in late."

Does anyone know what makes an injury a "serious injury" is it blood, broken
    bones or what?

An overnight stay in hospital IIRC.

    Bollocks.

Just picking an example entirely at random: what about an injury that
doesn't require an overnight stay, but does require 6 weeks strict bed rest?

    Oh, here we go:

"Serious injury: An injury for which a person is detained in hospital as
an “in-patient”, or any of the following injuries whether or not they
are detained in hospital: fractures, concussion, internal injuries,
crushings, burns (excluding friction burns), severe cuts and
lacerations, severe general shock requiring medical treatment and
injuries causing death 30 or more days after the accident. An injured
casualty is recorded as seriously or slightly injured by the police on
the basis of information available within a short time of the accident.
This generally will not reflect the results of a medical examination,
but may be influenced according to whether the casualty is hospitalised
or not. Hospitalisation procedures will vary regionally." (from DfT
    publication: RCGB notes

So, **** nose whether I was seriously injured or not.

crushings, burns (excluding friction burns), severe cuts and

Wonder why friction burns are excluded, I'd thought coming of a bike at
speed with the kind of summer wear I've seen some bikers wearing would give
you friction burns I'd do a lot to avoid.

<sigh> They may be unpleasant, but they're not a serious injury.

Just puzzled: a broken finger or a minor burn from the exhaust of your bike
if you dropped it on your leg would get you included as a serious injury
accident , but losing large areas of skin while sliding down the road in a
t-shirt wouldn't? But I suppose that might be classified as "severe cuts and
    lacerations"

    It's excellent, I'm crap.

The graphics are superb and the gameplay is interesting and addictive, at
the same time it's bloody hard in places and I'm really not much cop at
    driving games.

    <Whisper>
On the plus side I've got a bog-standard Audi Quattro and a ~400bhp Fiat
    Coupe in my garage.
    <Ultra-whisper>
The Fiat's the same colour as my real one and the Audi's the same colour as
the one I used to have[1].
    </UW></W>

[1] The coupe quattro, not the one that went "woof!"[2]
[2] Although they were both the same colour anyway.
