    Complicated, that. No idea.

Call me an old fashioned prude, but if I had a problem like that, I wouldn't
be telling the whole world about it. I'd prolly just re-appear as the burd.
Unless I really wanted the whole world to know "who/what I was before".

Anyway, let's drop it, eh? I'm not in line with the louder posters here on
    this, so no point continuing.

Full of venom, or spiteful would be what I'd go for. I liked veneme as
the wotsit for venemous, but I can't decided what a veneme is. Sounds
like a meme, so could a veneme be a bad meme? Making a venemous person
a sort of mental genetic anomaly?

Who the **** are you to tell me I'm wrong?
Yes Pip. You're a wise old timer who's always right and I have a quirky
    little head.
What the hell are you ranting on about? What am I not accepting? If Alan
wanted to die so has pretended to die, then so be it.
Shame. I didn't know him well, but he seemed pleasant.
Alan's been reincarnated? You seem to be having a problem letting go of
Alan. What's he got to do with this Molly burd?
Last time I saw him was at Snetterton, I think. Quite a while ago. He looked
    quite well.
Nice for you. You have a friend called Molly and Alan Gower died ages ago.

Let's leave it at that eh? You're making yourself look rather stupid and you
may or may not remember, but I was always fond of you, so don't want to
witness that (hell, that sounded patronising, sorry).

No he wouldn't, because one's sex is not defined by the presence (or
absence) of a penis. If it were, it would be impossible to determine the
sex of the donor of DNA cells from, say the inside of the cheek. Males
have XY and women have XX.

'Alan' still exists, but has (I assume) undergone surgery to change his
external sexual organs to those of a woman. It is (unless I've missed some
groundbreaking new medical technique) impossible to change one's DNA.
Personally, I don't have a problem with this, and would gladly address
'Molly' as 'she' were I to meet her. But 'she' is still a male human.

  11. I almost fear to step into this debate but the simple point here is
that Alan Gower became Molly following a series of operations plus all
of the related change of identity processes. There is much more to it
than this obviously but I don't know all of the facts. I suspect that
Pip is closer to the detail given he lives fairly close to Molly and
    clearly still sees her around.

Alan G has been replaced by Molly. If you wish to use the "death" term
for someone changing their gender and name then fair enough but it
seems a step too far to me.

Apologies to anyone if I've simplified matters too much or got the
gender / identity issue wrong - it was not intentional.

ICBW, but wasn't the whole thing kicked off because Alan/Molly had
    fucked-up chromosomes or something?

If I ever do meet this "Molly" without being told who it was before, I don't
see why I wouldn't treat "it" as a woman. That is if "it" actually looks
like a woman. I have seen some attempts at sex-change that have resulted in
"men with tits" - adam's apple and beard included.

Luckily, my inability to pretend that a bloke has changed into a woman - or
a frog or snake or whatever - should not offend anyone, and let's face it,
that's the crux of it these days. I don't search out priests to tell them
that their belief in fairies is nonsense, either. Nice bloke, me :)

    Live and let live.

I know stuff changes. And it mostly has little to do with me.

That was me suggesting we don't argue about it (You and I rarely agree about

    This is your opinion:
"Best left there then", as we seem to disagree on a fundamental point

(even though, obviously, *I* am "wrong" to hold such an opnion).

Please pass on my regards to "the one previously known as Alan T Gower".
