Gorgeous day and for once no shopping to do so I blew the cobwebs out of the 'Tart' with a blast to the greasy spoon at Quatt. Thoroughly enjoyable. Not much traffic around and no 'patrol presence'. Good thrape with a Pan at one point on the straight bits but I had the better of him on the twisties. He then turned off to take the short route whereas I really wanted to blow stretch her legs a bit. Much evidence of seriously ****-off big trees having come down across the road. The Highways crews had made an excellent job of the clear up with very little debris on the road. One particularly huge tree not far from Bridgnorth could have been the one that saw off (no pun intended) the top man at Birmingham airport apparently. When I got to the caff he was there alongside about 10 other bikes. Brief statistical survey revealed Beemers to be in the majority. Needless to say most of the other riders were silver haired old gimmers like me. Good run back an at one point caught up a Honda Acccord that was pressing on a bit. So much so that he was straying across the double white lines to get a good bite at left-handers and I swear I could hear some tyre squeel at one point. He turned off soon afterwards unfortunately. Absolutely nailed it coming up the last bit of national speed limit dual carriageway. The 'Tart' does pick up her skirts and rush on well when provoked. Several static offence detection systems were duly noted and accounted for but the cobwebs were well and truly blasted out. Off to clean the Nordie now. Hoping the cold wet snap forecast won't last too long so that an MoT can be acquired ASAP. -- +-------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pete Fisher at Home: | | Voxan Roadster Gilera Nordwest Yamaha WR250Z | | Gilera GFR Moto Morini 2C/375 | +-------------------------------------------------------------+
That's my old hooning ground around there. The Bridgnorth Road (from Wolverhampton) was a favourite many years ago, as was attempting our own land-speed record on 'The Rabbit Run' (Not sure if that's the correct name of it).
Oh I know the Rabbit Run. Wombourne to Telford. I usually favour the route which takes in 'the sixty bend'. Known as that because it used to feature a maximum advised speed limit of 30. In the old days there was a lay-by just past it and on Sundays in the summer an ice cream van would turn up. Pairs of hopefuls would go back up the road a bit towards Stourton, turn round, and attempt a twice the limit run. Once too often with the almost inevitable consequences unfortunately, and so the lay-by was removed. -- +-------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pete Fisher at Home: | | Voxan Roadster Gilera Nordwest Yamaha WR250Z | | Gilera GFR Moto Morini 2C/375 | +-------------------------------------------------------------+
