    (t)raining anyone?

Anyone interested in a bit of Dave Corden training this year? I dropped him
an email and (strangely) he seems quite keen on the idea.

I've not yet worked out dates (though one is likely to be the same weekend
as Platy burns down his house) but who would be interested in going?

Likely to be in June/July/August - probably three weekends again, so that
would be 4 people per weekend, though if there is more interest a
plan can be made I'm sure.

For those who don't know, Dave (and Geoff) are (semi-) retired police bike
instructors for the Avon & Wilts plod.
Despite this they're both nice chaps and certainly seem good at improving
    biking abilities.

You won't get your knee down (though Richard Alexander did manage everything
else) but you should come away happier with your riding.

I've not yet confirmed cost but last year was £150 for two full days of
riding in the UK and Wales - likely to be at least that this year.
This sounds a lot, but as far I know everyone who's been has felt it was
value for money (though I expect someone will pop up to deny this now).
You'll need to organise accommodation in or around Bristol (there are some
UKRM'ers who may donate floor space for much beer) or be
able to ride back and forth.

Either reply to this thread or drop me an email at
    .

    Aye.

As per last year, people are more than welcome to stay with us - we
live 1/2 mile from Dave's. Garage space and replacement indicator
    bulbs also available.

dwb was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
I might well be interested but it very much depends on the dates - atm
it looks like I'm away at least on w/e in June, got visitors over in
July and will be off end of August/beginning of September.

    Count me in.

We're also sorted for accomodation, as I'm only 45 minutes ride from
    Bristol.

    Yup.

Yesterday showed that I'm not really happy on the bike in difficult
    conditions.

I was doing OK on the dry bits, but as soon as it got a bit wet, I
    bottled it.

Still want to pick up some more confidence in the dry as well, though.

Doing the family thing on Sunday (inlaws want to come down and take us
out for my 30th), but could do Easter Monday. If not, it'll be the
    following Sunday.

    Sorted, then.

I propose a run to Hirwaun, and the A4059 for starters, then finding a
way to the West End Cafe at Llandovery (hopefully avoiding most of the
fuzz-trap that is the A40) for a bite to eat / coffee, before heading up
the Black Mountain (A4069?). We'll work out the rest from there.
Cheers, It's not really one I've been looking forward to.

it. Hopefully Wessie will be up for it. If not we'll pick his brains for the
"B" road route that I'm sure he'll know.

    I might do.:)

I'm staying in that pub in Talybont on Sunday night. You could always
ride over *that* mountain road from Beaufort into Llangynidr village.
Talybont is the next one along towards Brecon.

You could get a coffee in the pub, or Brecon if you are scared of a pub
full of poofs. They'll all be heading off home after breakfast.

I know a nice little route from Brecon to Llandovery via another
mountain road (has a white line down the middle). If it's sunny I might
choose a proper mountian road although you may not be ready for the
Devil's Staircase yet. May save that till later in the year.

I'll let you know later in the week once I've finalised plans for the
    weekend.

Sounds good to me..... although the pub full of poofs might scare off
    some <paging Cammo> ;-)

I'm happy to go with whatever people decide, but I'd particularly like
to take in the Hirwaun to Sennybridge and Black Mountain roads.
