But will I ever learn ?

Looks like I have re-enforced my name again.

    How ?

Ran out of petrol on the M6.

Whats that ? Every one does it ? Ok, let me tell the tale.

I had ben in Edinburgh working last week (hence why I was quiet) and cam
back Saturday evening. I filled up at J13 on the M74 (where I had filled
up on the way , 180 miles from home) and set off south. There was a lot of
high winds and rain, low cloud etc and as I approached Tebay (I was going
to stop for a cuppa and possibly fill up as the bike should have ben
capable of getting me there) the weather got worse so I decided to
    carry on.

I had by now noticed I was using more fuel than normal which I will put
down to the high winds and speed so I knocked it down to 80 and decided I
would fill up before I got home if needed.

After I passed Forton services (about 4 miles) reserve was needed, this
was 20 miles less than expected, but being cocky I wasn;t bothered, after
all I have 4-5 litres in reserve so 30 miles is no problem to Charnock
    Richard.

2 miles short it ran out, as I coasted to a halt I redid all the fuel
calculations to work out why. And then it dawned on me (and this is the
partyial YTC bit) I have had the tabk repaired ... twice.... with the petseal stuff...
    doh!

After geting the nice break down man out (via CN insurance) and he added 5
litres, then filled up at services, I now know the max I can fit in the
tank is 20.30 litres... oops, thats over 1.5 litres down.

And now the really really YTC bit .... remember my cockyness back up there
^^^^ ? Well, as I switched to reserve I actually opened the throtle
thinking I could easily do about 35 miles , and ran out at 25 !

Pity Bear isn't lurking to read this.

Ooops. I did wonder when I got home whether you'd collected it
because I didn't remember you going back to the bar to settle up
    before we left.

    Got it back now?
