SHAWNEE, Kan. -- An investigation is under way after a birthday celebration
ended in tragedy.

Jared Rainey, of St. Joseph, Mo., was in Shawnee over the weekend to celebrate
his 11th birthday with his grandmother.

His mother said 33-year-old Sean Jenkins had been driving Jared and other
children around an apartment complex on his motorcycle when they collided with a
car.

Jared's mother said the collision happened just minutes after he called to tell
her how much fun he was having.
