**** me, that's scary. Quite hard to stop too, as the perpetrator must have
a large reservoir of hacked ebay accounts that he can use. I reckon it could
easily catch someone who wanted to put something on their watched items
list. I can think of many times when I have been browsing ebay, seen
something that I was interested in and clicked on the "watch this item"
icon. If I hadn't already logged in then the next step would be a login
request. As there is no financial aspect to watching an item I must confess
that I haven't always checked the adress of the ebay page that sent me to
the login. I certainly will now.

 

I got an email from Ebay at quarter to 5 saying thanks for the report.

 

"I'll bet", "any", "buy it now"

 

You don't need a hacked account to do it. Just copy a current listing
under a new or sacrificial account.

I could set up a similar scam in about 15 minutes.

 

Yebbut zero feedback would make people more suspicious. A hacked account
with lots of apparently good feedback would work better.

Na, all you'd need to do is link the user profile from your fake page
to a real user profile with decent feedback who sold a similar item.

This is linux, but I have dago keyboards. Lucky I don't have much need
for a pound key.

Just use utf-8 and let the others catch up when the bickering stops. It
will stop, and utf-8 will prevail.

 

Yes yes, you keep saying that. However, yours are the only posts where
accented characters get screwed up. It's... strange.

What version of Linux are you using? On my Ubuntu system I ended up
creating a keymap for all the accented characters that I use when typing
in Spanish, plus some others as well. I can send you a copy if it'll be
compatible.

Set to something utf8-ish and Robert may well be your mothers brother. If
of course, you are lucky, the wind is blowing in the right direction,your
distro doesn't have a screwed up console-setup package rendering your
other keyboard layouts inaccessible.

The trauma I went through getting both an English keyboard and a Turkish
one working only to have keyboard support shifted from the x-server
package to another mystery package. With no warning other than shit just
not working anymore.
