9R cooling system

I pranged the 9R a while back, smashing the radiator into a useless bit
of metal. I sourced a replacement rad, from a 6R which is very nearly
the same. Only a couple of brackets etc different, fits perfectly.

Problem is I've fitted it, refilled it and run the bike. Get it up to
temp and it starts to blow air into the expansion tank and then empty
the radiator of water. All flowing into the expansion tank and out of
    the vent tube.

The only difference that I can see that might be significant is that
the pipe on the filler neck that leads to the expansion tank is very
slightly smaller than the original. The hose is not a perfectly tight
fit, so it could be drawing air in through there. I tried pinching up
tight with a jubilee clip, but to no avail. I'm going to try getting a
narrower hose, and stretching it at the expansion tank end, which
should give an air tight fit. Beyond that I'm stumped.

Any suggestions before I get a man in, which I can't really afford to
    do right now.

I assume you've checked for an air-lock somewhere?

    That's what I'd do first.

Then I'd get a compression tester on the job ...

Get her indoors to give it a good suck, and see if anything comes out.

I did. No idea if I did it properly, mind.
It's going to someone who knows what they are doing.

I've had a fucking nuff. Got a new pipe of the correct size and it was
still doing it, then the cunting tank dropped off whilst I was tracing
lines through and it's fucked the paint work on the tank.

    Aaaargh. Oaf.

Paintwork can be fixed, though. It's a slack time at ye olde
    paintshop atm ...
