Not bad for a 16 year old 800cc tourer with an enormous barn door
    fairing.

Shame I couldn't coax another 0.7 out of it though.

Then again, I wouldn't have had to go so fast if the SOBeemer alternator
produced enough juice to power the lights and the heated grips at the
same time. I had to go fast to keep me hands warm, m'lud.

I read somewhere that for every 6mph you travel the temperature drops by
one degree so by going 30mph slower you wouldn't need heated grips ;)

Does that mean that on a cold day nothing can fly faster than mach 2 because
that would break the laws of physics?

Any fool knows that stuff heats up when it goes that fast.

    Don't be silly.

So that's how my grips work.

Did you try tickling its belly?
Don't slag it off too much or it might not come to the rescue again.

But you are, and it wasn't [1] so bah :p

At least judging by the amount of skinny top tottie walking amongst the
    bikes.

Too busy hanging on I'm afraid.
Well, your missus was getting pretty animated even though it wasn't
    there :)

Fired up no problem this morning. I suspect the 8-year old battery has
    reached the end of life.

Usually the bike is strapped to the Oximiser all the time, but
conspicuously it hasn't been for the last week or so.

Remote control vibrating Ben-Wah Balls rock.
It probably just didn't want to go out in the cold - like someone else
    we could mention...

Well, my main reason for not going was that my rear tyre is illegal -
the likely presence of plod made it seem a bit foolish. But, when I
walked home from work at 5:30, it was definitely a bit chilly.
Yeah, but women are stupid about that sort of thing.

    AOL to the chilly bit.

I went out on Tuesday evening, and to be honest I didn't really enjoy
it. Everything was sluggish and all I could think about was going
    home.

Oh, it was a bit chilly no doubt. But it was quite a clear pleasent
evening. Had a really nice bimble down and found a few gorgeous roads
[1]. The way back I took the less scenic route, but made 'good'
    progress [2].

Well then there are the Igelnasen[3]

[1] Not fast, but great scenery and totally empty through the Berkshire
    downs and into Wiltshire.

[2] A4 to Hungerford, almost totally empty, can be ridden pretty much
    with full throttle lock[4]

[3] Literally translated to Hedgehogs' noses

[4] at least on a Transalp with German plates where it equates to about
    100mph.

If you pick up the Salisbury road in Marlborough & hang a left after a
few miles at the roundabout with a garage on the corner after the long
straight, there's a really, really nice backroad (A338) into
Hungerford. Got some lovely bends it has.

Then after Hungrford, take the Aldbourne road to Swindon, and grin all
the way. Except for the one where it drops away from you on a
    sharp'ish left hander.

Hmm, let me see. 160 kmh are 99.42 mph. So I'd say it beats it ever so
    slightly [1]. ;-)

[1] Actually the highest speed I recorded via GPS is 176 kmh (109.36
    mph) some time back.
