I got some staintune cans fitted ($1000) will rejetting the carbs make
much of a difference? Has anyone had any luck with aftermarket air
filters? the original "airbox" seems quite restrictive and there is a
breather hose coming off it going to the crankcase(?) also want to
turbo the bastard or supercharge it, i know it'll cost me an arm and a
leg, but how can u put a price on making your pride and joy go faster?
What about aftermarket forks? I think i may need some engineering done
for that? triple clamps at the least, also wanna put MX bars on for
    comfort ;) Any comments welcome...

Also, what about boring out the cylinders, get bigger pistons, anyone
know much on the Trump 1200 engines? is there much "meat" to play with?

Do they still use liners? Does any manufacturer? I thought the
nikasil/whatever-fancy-coating of the alloy block was universal these days.

Only the Daytona 955 engines got the nikasil coated alloy cylinders. All
    other Triumphs used iron cylinders.

Gotta wonder why you'd bomb a tourer though...

Far from it , that would suggest a degree of sophistication.

So they're sticking with cast iron liners and carbs then. Isn't that "Living
    in the seventies", or sixties?

Have you tried the usual support like lifting belt ?
Makes riding much more comfortable IMHO

Whats wrong with being able to rebore a motor cheaply and tune it your

Having run 200,000 kms on a Nikasil-type engine which was still not using
any oil, not even smoking on start-up, and tuning annually in two minutes
just to check the throttle body balance, I have no idea of how to answer
    your question.

    I think you're stuck in 77.

depends on your definition of much of a difference

you will prob benefit going up 1 main size

a couple of washers under the needles or dropping the clip
will yield decent benefits in the midrange area which is where
    you find the biggest improvements

don't expect huge gains max HP , but midrange performance will improve
and hp versus time will also improve

    Only 200k ? ( you stuck in 2nd)
    I have a vehicle here with 697203 k on it . I know it's run in .
Thats great you have such mileage but lets be honest there are motors
out there which don;t last as well , recently a 'lation had to rebuild
his v12 , the cost was horrendous and after much shagging about we
sourced sleeves and pistons for his alloy block cutting the price in 1/2
and yes I expect it will be a once in a life time but a new block was
far to expensive and I feel a waste

No, carbies went 10 years ago. Only the Bonnie derivatives still use carbs.

Nikasil alloy bores can be bored and recoated and as for DIY tuning, that's
why I have Tuneboy and Tuneedit.

I'd like a good late model T3 Trophy 900 myself. Would be a nice
    counterpoint to the Daytona.

I was unaware of being able to re-coat , as I mentioned last motor I
worked on with coated bores .. well we were told no you cant buy a new
block which was prohibitive and it still worked out at over $650 per pot
to rebuilt it with sleeves . ( a new block doubled the expenditure)
