Been offered a '92 Honda CBR900RR with cosmetic damage, i.e.
broken/missing fairing on the LHS and damaged upper fairing on the top
left. I haven't priced new replacements yet (reality avoidance
    technique!!!!).

Anyway wondering if anyone knows if I'm likely to have much luck with
cosmetic parts like fairing from wreckers or am I stuck with new
    parts.

If anyone knows of any wreckers in NSW with definite parts I'd
    appreciate it.

Are there any other options available like aftermarket race fairings?
Not being familiar with what fits on what as far as year models are
concerned I'd appreciate any advice and you can even feel free to
scare me with new genuine prices...

please reply to glennrbarry at optusnet dot com dot au as my news
server doesn't provide this particular newsgroup

    Thanks

    Make it a street-fighter.
They're a disposable motorcycle so don't waste any money on one that's 10
    models old!

I know they're long in the tooth, but I may get it for next to nothing
which suits my current budget just fine!! I'm just itching to get back
    on a bike.
I haven't had one for quite a few years and miss my VF750 and IT465 so
I'm figuring the cheapest way in at the moment onto something that
should both go and handle pretty well

I haven't had one for quite a few years and miss my VF750 and IT465 so
OK got it, but the wind is going to give me hell at any sort of decent
    speed without fairing.

Any comments on whether or not '98 race fairing will fit without too
much reconstruction?? Headlight and tail light differences?? I've got
a quote for $850 from Racers Edge which seems reasonable.

Anyone know of any second hand race fairing that's available for the
CBR's? Or a likely place to look. Fibreglass I can fix, plastic I
    can't.

why not , its not that hard to do just dfferent

how bad is what you have,it might not cost all that much to fix what you
    have already

Girly woose ! :) Seriously though, how fast can you go on the street
without risking getting your licence confiscated on the spot ? It's a
160 in NSW, and if you can't cope with a 160 without a fairing there's
    something wrong.

Besides, just get one of those little quarter screen fairings they sell
for the monsters etc or there's a mob in the UK do a cool quarter
fairing for the double headlight setup if you go the speed triple look

Jesus ! They've tightened it up again ? It used to be 30 over was a 3
months suspension, but they did it through the normal "you're out of
points your licence is hereby suspended" route.

When did they start taking it off you on the spot for 30 over ?

In Vic it is now 120 (even if you are in a 110 zone) then you get to walk.
It changed about 6 months ago.

For quite a while now, actually.

I sat through a three month suspension for 45 over the limit I scored in
May, 1997 on top of three months for accruement of more than 12 demerit
    points.

At the time, I believe it was:
    -15-30 over was suspension-free
    -30-45 over was a 1 month suspension
    -45-60 over was a 3 month suspension
    -60+ over was, I think, a 6 month suspension

The latest scheme slides that down a notch, so 30-45 over scores a 3
month suspension etc, with the added rider that anything over 130kph,
regardless of the speed limit where it's clocked, also earns you a
    suspension.

In June 1996 45+ was the NSW trigger for licence suspension. I got caught
doing 46+ then, but the nice policeman wrote it down as 44+. They transferred
the 4 points over to my Vic licence.

Technically 30 k,s and over is a walk so that means at any roadworks
designated 40 kmh , you do 70 KMH or more and your walkin for a month its
    that simple

Again 70 kmh * could * cause you to loose your licence

  20. Sometime before last December. My mate was allowed to ride home but got a
letter two or three days later confirming the suspension. His points
remained unchanged when it was reinstated three months later.
