This area is outside our route bus coverage and the 'line of route'
belongs to someone else. They don't arrive early enough for me to get
to work, or leave Castlemaine late enough for me to use (1 service a day
    only).

  7. Lets hope the lunatic Israelis dont succeed in getting the US to
attack Iran. "IF" they do we'll all be back to walking or riding push
bikes :) Perhaps some of us may live to see the return of horse drawn
    transport :)

That's probably equivalent to most litre+ sportsbikes in city traffic.
I'd have thought a scooter would have been much more economical. What's
the benefit of riding it as opposed to a small commuter bike? Can't be
    running costs... Fun factor?

Nothing is a given in the oil business though. Everyone thought the
same after the first gulf war when the price of a barrel tripled
overnight.. but a few years later the price was back down below the
price during the oil crisis of the 70s.
I have it on good authority that they're also colluding on the price of
milk, bread, cigarettes, soft drinks and chocolate bars too. Check it
out. Report it to the ACCC.

Most scooters get way more than mine.

Mine is a worked 180cc 2 stroke that goes everywhere at full noise if
    at all possible.

Your average cheap 4 stroke scoot - say a Bug or Bollwell - gets
    25-30km/l.

I have the Runner rather than the Bolwell I was going to get because
it has a grin factor you can't beat. If I'm going to be commuting,
I'm going to have fun doing it!

I think most scooter riders ride scooters because they are easy - most
are auto for example, and the sit up style is both comfortable and
    gives good vision.

Compared to a scooter, your average commuter motorcycle like a GPx is
heavy, uncomfortable, and hard to manouvere at slow speeds, plus
doesn't get as good fuel economy.

    Stuck in second?

GB, like that young bloke on the news that got done for 152 over
the ANZAC bridge last week. The telly news held him up as
some sort of pariah, major contributor to the 'easter road
toll', etc, etc. Me, I reckon there's something up with his
    gearbox!

I just plugged some numbers into my calcumalator. Shit! I'm
getting 14Km/l out of my YZF1000. I'm gonna have to figure
out how to ride *without* both wheels on the ground at all
times (and generally stop riding like someone's grandmother!),
I'm making the thunderarse look bad!

GB, mind you, it cost me $25.50 to fill it up this morning. Not
real impressed with that, I tell ya!

Paper tiger. You'll gain far more satisfaction from chilling out
on the verandah with a nice cold beer and listening to Nat King Cole
(or his daughter) singing that song about paper moons, cardboard
    seas and canvas skies.

GB, but it wouldn't be make-believe if you believed in Hatz

Not really... I get about 14km/litre out of the ZRX1200R as well. The
V11 is just naturally thirstly when you use 'larger' throttle openings I
    suspect.
It's getting to where it'll cost us as much % of our income for fuel for
the bike as it used to cost for the car when we were young!
