    Hi,
    I ride a '91 Suzuki GS 400E and i can't find out a single thing about
this bike. Hopefully some of you maybe able to offer some advice.

Now its really turning cold, i'm struggling to get my bike to idle
smoothly, and pick-up from low revs (Its never been great at this).
Problems pretty scary too, especially when looking for any power
entering a corner - Any enthusiastic throttle twists causes a
momentary dip in revs when below 2,500rpm! This all seems
understandable owing to it being winter, but it is a problem i want to
    in-part remedy.

I'd like to consider changing the air-filter as this seems to be the
problem. fuel flow is fine. Does anybody have any suggestions for an
easier-breathing system and knows of the right tweaks needed to be
made to the carb? - i tried removing the filter and had great response
above 2000rpm, but suffered bad sporadic backfiring at idle!

Should i stick to a standard (GS500) air filter?
Would better channeling of warm air from around the exhaust manifold
    help?
would fairing just the engine help eliminate some of the judders and
    backfiring?

I know its a lot of questions, but really just want advice from
anybody in the same boat, especially owners of '91 GS400E's

    Very best to you all

The bike is not running right. Sort this first and then improve it.

When did it last get serviced and what sort of service was it?

Just a thought, but have you considered carb heaters?

It's a sleeved down version of an antique.

Not the greatest bike in the universe.
