89 CBR1000 tyre pressue

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by William Hamilton, Aug 22, 2004.

  1. I have recently picked up an 89 CBR1000. What range of tyre pressures
should I be looking at? I commute weekdays and try for a good ride on
    the weekends.

  2. For Starters don't follow the manual. The pressure is way too hard. Even
    tire guru's reccomend lower settings.

For normal riding and hooning use 38psi Front and 40psi rear. Only Pump it
up to 40 frot and 42 rear if yer 2 up and are both bargearse's ;)

If you intend to hoon in the wet drop the front to 36. But do not let it go
below 36 as the CBR's are hard on front tyres and you get scalloping before
    you know it.

Get decent tyres as well. Get some good rubber behind ya and you'll give a
few sportsbikes a good scare. :)

I run 36 front, 42 rear with mine. Seems to be the optimum pressure. If
the front drops below say 28, then the front end becomes vague, and the
bike's slow to respond to steering input.
