    Hi All

My younger boy recently brought home a stray 1986 Kawasaki Eliminator ZL600
(I think that is what it is; upright twin, cruiser style). It's ratty and
rusty but fired up once the battery was charged. Looks like a good bike for
    him to learn to wrench.

However, there doesn't appear to be after market maintenance manuals
available and it will take us a while to get a shop manual. Can one of you
knowledgeable folks out there on the newsgroup tell me the proper setting
for the timing, spacing for the valves, and gap for the plugs? The bike
idles well but won't rev (cough, cough, wheeze, wheeze) and I'd like to
eliminate the easy items before having him tackle the carbs. (And yes,
plugs are new and air filters are clean.)

    Thanks, Neil

    If it's a twin, it's not a ZL600, the ZL600 is a four cylinder.
Could be an EN450A2 (1986 LTD 454), though.

I recently bought a Kawasaki Eliminator ZL600 myself, however I'm not sure
about its age since I don't know when it was built.
    But I do know it's a 4 cylinder for sure. So I guess yours isn't a ZL600.

There're alot of Kawasaki Eliminators out there, so you might have another
type of Eliminator. Do you have a picture?
Same story here. I bought it from my uncle who didn't drive it since August
    last year.
Ever since then it's been standing in a garage and got a bit 'forgotten'...

Since I love Kawasaki Eliminators I bought it with the goal of restoring it
    into original state.
Well, maybe not for 100% since some parts really need to be replaced and are
    not on the market anymore,..
Those are the same questions I have.
So if someone can help us out here, be my guest :)

On this link you can see the bike as I bought it, if someone can give me
more information about the age and stuff, it will be more than welcome.

    Many thanks in advance,

I own a '97 ZL-600 and have the owner's manual and factory service
manuals for it. Your bike is an earlier model, '97 was the last model
year and your bike looks somewhat different then mine, so I don't know
if the information from these manuals applies. If you would still like
info from these manuals let me know.

BTW, my ZL is one heck of a terrific bike, I definately understand why
    you like them.
