    Hey all,

Has anybody here ever rebuilt one of these engines.

My question is can the rear cylinder cam chain and gear be removed without
    removing the top end?
I know if I remove the rotor like the Manual says then it can be removed
from the top. But these books are always based on complete tear downs and
rebuilds. I would love to be able to just slip the gear and chain out from
    under instead.

    thanks
    John

Sorry if I'm not really helping but I'd just like to understand
    the question. "from under" ???
From my experience of somewhat similar Yamaha engines I'd
think that there is no need to remove the top end (if you mean
removing the cylinder head), just lift of the valve cover. I know
for a fact that I replaced the cams on the 1000cc V-twin
without any major dismantling. And to do that I had to remove
    the top chain sprocket.
Now, thinking about it, wasn't there a special round cover in
that area so not even the valve cover had to be removed ?
Even if the 750 has no special access for the cam, it should be
enough if you remove the valve cover, I think.
