I have a friend who owns a 1982 or so Goldwing 1200. When making a sharp
curve & laying the bike over somewhat, the engine just dies causing a
complete laydown of the bike. He has been told that it has some type of
leveling sensor that is causing it to die, but it seems like a carburetor
problem to me! I am thinking of buying it from him, but want to explore the
options of what it might cost to diagnose & fix the problem. Anyone out
there have any advice or similar problems with this sort of thing? I
    appreciate any & all help!!!

Sounds like a faulty tip-over switch. These are designed to kill the
fuel supply in case the bike is laid down in a crash.
