81 XL 250 TIMING

    I'm rebuilding an XL for a friends son and trying to keep the cost
    down (NOT BUY A MANUAL). I need to know where to set the cam , lower
    gear and counter weight. This is my first post. Is this a good spot
    for info?

    Yes, this is a good place to get info. You won't get any better info
    than this:

    BUY A MANUAL.

    Even the Haynes or Clymer manuals will be better than no manual.
