I recently purchased an '81 GL 1100. on the ride home I noticed a
fairly severe vibation in the engine/trans when decelerating. It also
does it when you rev the motor in neutral. The feeling that I get is
like something is very out of balance, but only when the engine is not
accelerating. Any input would be appreciated. -Jeff Childs

C'MON TOG, I know you know what a GL is!

Actually there are a couple chains inside ( primary, starter), but I would
suspect a worn universal joint, driveshaft spline or bearing( wheel,
    rearend, steering head, swingarm).

  8. my dad has an 81 wing also and his rattles also, but only when
starting to move. he researched it and found that most all of them
will rattle a little. something about, if i remember right, the
primary drive chain. something with the followers i think.
