My newly aquired parts bike is an 1981 Cb 650 fully complete with
48,000 km. It turned over a few cranks and then just stopped. There
was some clicking sounds then nothing. I have re-charged the battery,
checked all the fuses, put a little oil down each cylinder, as the
bike has not been started in a year. I turned the engine over by
wrenching the ignintion flywheel bolt ( I think it is called) and it
was very tight at first then it loosed up as the oil hit the cylinder
    walls.
So when I hit the starter button the headlights dim greatly and
nothing happens, no clicking sound, no turning over, just a real dim
    headlight.
Any ideas where to go next??
    Thanks in advance.

Ps thanks for the fork oil info....it was for my good bike the '80 Cb
650 custom, and will replace that fork oil, and measure the spring
    and see what happens there.

If you don't have a volt meter handy, or even if you do, you can try jumping
it with an auto battery (car not running), Don't spin it for more than a
second or two at a time, but you should be able to tell pretty quick where
the problem is. If the starter got corroded will siting idle, it could have
some dead spots or may be binding. Lots o luck!
