800cc MotoGP in 2007?

I just read that MotoGP bikes will be allowed a maximum of 800cc
beginning in 2007.

I didn't realize it had been decided. Ducati was pushing for 900cc
because it was more in line with their future streetbike plans, but
it's dated 6/4/05.

I personally think this is a great rule since it will leak into
streetbike development and smaller bikes are better (IMHO). I kinda
wish they'd get rid of 2-strokes altogether and make a 400cc 4-stroke
class or something similar.

 

Unless there's a future for two strokes on the street -- meaning
something like the Bimota project, an engine with four stroke type
lubrication...
