My 2000 VN800 Classic has an intermitent misfire. It only happens when I am
coming from an idle taking off, or when I lug it down a little on the
highway. I'm not lugging it down too bad. Only does it sometimes, but more
often than I'd like. The dealer adjusted the carb, but it has only helped a
little. If I run it with about 1/4 to 1/2 choke it's fine and runs great.
Granted the weather is in the 40's...maybe it's just very cold blooded?
    Any comments?
    Thanks,
    Jack

    Jack,

I've got the same problem with my 2002 VN800 Classic, and am going to try
adjusting the fuel mixture screw in the spring. I think this is a common
problem, in order to keep the bike within EPA guidelines.
Check out this link, provides relatively detailed instructions:

Good luck if you try it. Let me know if you have any success.

    Craig,
The VROC guys (Russian Wolf) told me to screw the pilot screw all the way
in, the turn it back out 2 full turns. Worked like a charm!!
Give it a try...good luck getting into the screw area though....hopefully
your hands are smaller than mine...I left a little skin on my cylinder
    heads...ouch.
