    Okay. I got a 1980 kz1000 B4 last summer. When I got it, it wouldn't
    run without the choke ON.

I have just completely dissassembled, cleaned (completely), and rebuilt
all 4 carbs (new main and pilot jets, float needles, air needles,
o-rings, gaskets, etc) and accel pump. I set the float heights
perfectly. I have cleaned the tank, replaced the petcock, fuel lines,
and coils (all of which were in bad shape).

So I am stuck with a bike that doesn't want to idle without the choke
on. When its warm: When the choke is off, i can blip the throttle and
get it to rev. It stumbles for a while and eventually dies with the
choke off. I can get by with the choke cracked about 1/4, but no less.

The bike has aftermarket pod filters. and the mufflers were replaced
with open pipes. The pilot and main jets are both up one size over
    stock.

If anyone can help.. it would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Adam

Re-jet the carbs, or put the stock air box back on it. Its getting to much
air. Also check to see if the intake boots are in good shape, no cracks, and
make sure the clamps are all tight.

  3. Advice I've seen over on http://www.kzrider.com is that a good rule of
thumb is up two main jet sizes for the pods and another two main jet sizes
for the exhaust. So, you may want to try going four sizes up over stock.
I'm not sure on sizing the pilots.

Don't take my word for it, head over to the site above and search the
forum archive. That should give you some ideas.
