Hi all, new here and would be greatful for some advice. Is it possible
to replace the spark plug leads on the coils, mine are arcing all over
the place. I had to shorten them then put in extension leads as they
were cracked but now have same problem nearer the coils so am running
out of space to attach extensions. Any help would be appreciated.

Honda coils of that age tend to have moulded cables, not screwed in ones.

Indeed. I'm 90% sure they'll be the same as the 400/4 ones, which are
    moulded.

IIRC all SOHC Honda Fours used the same coils. Only the length of the
    HT leads differed.

Anyway, it's not as if decent higher-output pattern ones are hard to
    find.

Thanks for that, I think I feared that may be the case. Will just have
to try and scource some replacements, hopefull different models of 4
    will fit. Kevin

  6. Is it still points on that model, or has it been fitted with an
aftermarket electronic ignition? If so, you'll need the coils to match
that - they have a differrent resistance on the primary side compared to
the ones fitted to later electronic ignition bikes.

    A typical example would be;

    Points system - 4ohm primaries

    Elec system - 2ohm primaries.

It is electronic ignition, Pyranah after market. However, I have
managed to get it running after finding there was no continiuity on
the plug lead extensions I fitted, probably not enough umph to get
through them. Thanks to everyone for the replies, Kevin
