Dunno - we sold the bike last summer and I didn't change any filter in
the frasme, but the Clymer manual never mentioned one either. It looks
fairly coarse for an oil filter though, probably just to catch any small
children who fell in. More like what I'd call an oil strainer if I was
    still running an old beetle.

Pffft... short scaffold pole through rear wheel, long scaffold pole over
breaker bar. Works every time. Eventually. As long as your swear at it
    enough.

lol. Sounds like the Blackbird one is on for life then :)

All this talk of scaffold poles, does no-one have an air impact gun on
    here ?

    Essential equipment IMHO.

  6. Who was it here had a Honda with a welded on sprocket? Was it Dodger,
many moons ago, and a CBR1000?

I kinda assumed that that was what Paul was referring to with his
comment "being as there wasn't a lock washer on it".
Do you really find that threadlock makes stuff harder to release then?

Almost - I got talked out of it, and bought a Blackbird instead.

    Not a cheap solution.

As AndrewR has already pointed out, such items were quite easy to come
    by at the time.

You can probably buy them on eBay these days, can't you?

Isn't that the idea of the "lock" part of it?

It's been done. Although the scaffold poles were actually titanium tubes,
and there was half a tree on the rack.

  15. I have actually ridden a sidecar outfit whose chair was constructed from
    such things. Honest.

    Snap.

Ok I've had to bottle from this years Elephant. That gives me a year to
knock up my idea. A QD leaning sidecar load carrier with a lock up bar
for when the going gets icy.

A mate of mine says his missus might allow him to travel on a bike if
    I fitted a sidecar. He wants a clinker-built one.
