I'm pretty sure I read somewhere a while ago that the rushed a law through that enabled
them to not have to pay the money back. I can't find anything regarding it though. Hmm.
Might have been that letter the cops sent out saying, "**** ya's, we're gonna bill you anyway
and there's nothing you can do about it" that did it.

But they still have not paid a cent back to anyone yet. Yesterdays news stories are saying
that not one cent has been paid to any motorist yet. They have only restored licences.
It's basically up to the motorist to chase up their money themselves. The Government won't
just give it back, you have to ask them for it.

Not true. They haven't finished dealing with those suspended from driving
as a result of being booked in error. In the next week or so you'll get a
letter explaining how you can *apply* to get your money back.

  4. You might also want to check the wording on the fine carefully too, I'm
lead to believe[1] that they apply the famous "3kmh leeway" beforehand,
so the fine may state something like "detected at 67kmh, fined for a
claimed 64kmh", in which case your 10% ADR allowed speedo error makes no
    difference anyway.

  5. Thats what I thought too, untill I read the relevant ADR.

    <dig dig dig>

    ADR18/02 says:

18.5 SPEEDOMETERS AND ODOMETERS (ALL VEHICLES)
    18.5.1 Speedometers
18.5.1.1 Unless otherwise ŒApproved¹, every vehicle
must be fitted with a speedometer which must:

18.5.1.1.2 indicate the actual vehicle speed, for all
speeds above 40 km/h, to an accuracy of +- 10 per cent.

So it definitely plus and minus 10 percent.

And information about an organisation in another state who investigated
the possibility of challenging something quite similar couldn't be
useful at all, could it, because their number plates are a different colour.

Sheesh! I hope you're teaching something like Technical Drawing, where
anal retentiveness might be an asset.

Any goddamn colour you want in WA.

You can have WA plates with an Essondon Football Club logo even. If I order
a minimum of ten they'll make them with the Bekkers logo on them.. :)

    Actually I am teaching CAD:p

As for my original post BVR was speaking about his experience here in
VIC and people were gabbing about adr's speedo's and tolerances in non
victorian states and that doesn't help the situation here in vic based
    on the original post.

  16. We _were_ better off under Kennet!

Yet you seem quite upset when anyone mentions it.

Is it the point, or is the money, or is the tolerance....

  17. Pull your head in,!

Other ausmotians do travel outta the state on their bikes!

Discussion is an important aspect of laws and their implications.
