    Hello Chaps,

I am an infrequent poster here, but a frequent reader. The
next couple of days could change all that. That is of course
should anyone be interested <fx> ducks </fx>...

My Dad and I have finally started putting the BMW R51/3
together. After 6 years in planning this should go smoothly!

I was finally fed up moving boxes of BMW parts around the
garrage, and took a week off work.

Day one went ok, apart from not remembering where anything
was/went/looked like. But a parts manual and regular
reference to Babel Fish helped with the last two!

The engine eventually gave up the fight and went into the
frame (Dad remembering the technique he used to use helped),
and we have decorated the frame with some lovely scratches
    and ample blood.

There's a couple of pictures here, that will be added to as
the week goes on (unless it all goes wrong), and I get to
    practise my css as well.

Frinton Boy came up with the following;:
    Nice.

Is the green plastic box just a tad dangerous? I mean, after six years
planning I'd have thought you'd have a proper stand for it at least ... ;)

  7. Hmmmm
Old enough to be a real classic check
    Boxer twin check
    Shaft drive check
    Water cooled no
    British no

3 out of 5, not bad.

    Oo, lovely!

And can I start the CIHAGM queue right now, for when it's finished?

Ah, when I said 6 years of planning. What I meant was that
it had been 6 years of me planning to get round to it,
rather than actually planning how to do it.

Anyway I laugh in the face of danger, but we have replaced
the green box with lumps of wood after it cracked and the
    bike slowly toppled towards me!

You are more than welcome, should our paths cross. Do you
    get to NE Essex much?

(there's a couple more pictures up there now by the way. But
I need to work on the content now the site looks as I want
    it to...)

Where's the blood? I see no blood, only a gleaming bike in the making.

  13. There's nothing nastier than the feeling of a bike toppling, and knowing
    that you can't stop it.

It's especially piquant when it topples into the bike standing next to
    it.

The other horrid one was tidily backing the Beemer into the kerb on a
steep hill (Lower Park Row for Bristol cognoscenti), then standing on
the uphill side and tilting it slightly to get the side stand down...

B****y embarrassing, but I *really* like those pot guards now.

    Regards,

Frinton Boy came up with the following;:
I figured .. tuits are pretty rare round these parts too.
It's a scenario I both envisaged and have had happen to me in the past ....
    hence the nod ... ;)

I was reading recently that there is a world shortage of
tuits at the moment. Thought to be caused by global warming,
we are all getting a more Mediterranean/Carribean attitude.
