  3. Mercedes is getting a real pasting in the press these days, for quality
and service - or lack of.

    No.

Actually I hve checked the oil on the Alfa once (just because I'd noticed a
little sticker on the inside of the windscreen which says something along
the lines of "Look, mate, it's an Alfa and, therefore Italian, so it'll use
a bit of oil, so don't forget to check it, eh, 'cos its not our fault if the
engine seizes after 3 days or something...") and it didn't appear to have
used any so I've left it alone since then......

Strange results, and shows how much you can get away with if you're
perceived as crap in the first place.

Alfa / Fiat dealers are, more often than not, one in the same, so Fiat
being 7th worst against Alfa being the worst just demonstrates that.

Alfa being 'worst' also seems to be related to the number of non-Alfisti
    buyers these days.

Maybe I'm being a bit radical in my views, but could it be because
they're shit cars with a shit dealer network?

Ah, now you see, that's the prejudice of a non-Alfisti. If you were a
true Alfisti you'd see that a car breaking after 6 weeks and 4 days, and
the dealer basically not giving a **** is just part of the charm of
    these fine vehicles.

People buy them and expect to treat them like a VW / Ford / Vauxhall.
You can't. They need more looking after than that - like checking fluids
every 1k miles or so. It may seem 'shit' to some, but it's just what you
have to do if you buy an Italian sports saloon.

All totally devoid from VAG offerings. Whilst the Passat I bought this
week is a good, solid and likely to be reliable car, it's just a method
    of transport, nothing more.

Oh tosh. See that piston-shaped hole in the bonnet? That's where the
    soul exited.

    See? Simple really.

  18. Why? I mean, when you buy a German sports saloon, you don't. Nor a
    Japanese sports saloon.

    Utterly boring A-B transport, though.

Surprised at this from you of all people. It's the same reason you have
a 750SS rather than a GSXR or CBR.
