I saddled up The Beem 11 days ago and fled the land of exploitation for the
    land of pigs with fins.

3145 miles total, including Calif, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado and
Idaho. We fished in all but Utah and found the trout to be aggressive and
willing to be the main event, day after day.
We put al the best fly fishing spots on our intinerary and managed to get to
almost all of them, and some that were recommended along the way.
The bike was absolutely wonderful, with just enough luggage space to
accomodate, tent, sleeping bag, fishing gear and of course , insect
    repellent!.
We did a giant loop using northerly roads to Steamboat Springs, then came
home along a southern route that included US 50. The only tough part was
dealing with violent thunderstorms every day in the late afternoon.
    More photos later.
Oh did I say my neck is sore and that my buns are glad to take a day off the
    bike?
Yesterday we clocked over 600 miles and that has got to be my upper limit.

Damn, Jim. I wish I had the time to do this kind of tour. It sounds like
you went through amazing country and had an awesome ride. I'm looking
forward to the full ride report.

I'm curious, though. Do you eat the fish you catch every day, or do you
find some way to transport them for several days--- dedicating one of the
hard bags for an ice chest and stopping frequently for ice? Enquiring minds
    and all...

    ....
I am normally a "release the fish" kind of guy, but we had the pleasure of
staying with my friend's brother at his cabin east of Steamboat, so I did
filch a few for the dinner plate while we stayed there.
In the Colorado River however , it is deginated as a " God Medal" fishery,
meaning that the giant trout hogs must be released back in to the river to
be caught again another day by some other lucky angler.
They ran between one and 6 lbs the two times we fished there. Too bad
California has only a couple of similar places where the fish are so
    protected.

Let me correct a couple of typos:
The Colorado is a Gold Medal fishery not a God Medal fishery, and nothing in
    in Colorado is "deginated"...:)

Funny, when I read it my mind supplied the "L" and "S". I didn't even
notice the typos. Of course, if there were any "God Medal" fisheries, they
would have to have been in Utah.

I was deginated in Colorado once.

All the gin I'd drunk came right back up.
