An accurate description. However its a nasty cramped buzzy little thing
with a reasonable top speed, capable of being taken around the outside of
    incompetents on R1s.

    Which is nice.

Benefits from a slightly smaller rear sprocket for a few more revs a bit
quicker. You do need a nimble left big toe though.

The ZXR750 used the hoover tubes to take air from intakes at the top of
the fairing to a pressurised airbox under the tank. The 400 doesn't have
a pressurised airbox so the hoover tubes are purely cosmetic to mimic
    its bigger brother.

I was convinced it was some kind of insect gathering system.

unfortunately they stopped making them over a decade ago, and the more recent
ones are as rare as hen's teeth, so nowadays there is little to no chance of
finding anything other than a fifteen year old shed^h^h^h^hclassic.

    thanks for all the suggestions...
i still prefer the sports bikes with fairings so its a toss up between
a 400 which is ideal for size but may be more expensive to buy and
run, or a 600 which could be a model thats still available new and
    cheaper to buy/maintain.

    Yay! Your up for fun.

Easy to get to stuff as well. Plugs airbox etc. all easy access.

Make sure you check the bolts holding on the seat subframe every couple
of cleans and tighten using lock compound if they come loose. Mine scared
the crap out of me one day whilst cleaning I found the seat was only held
on by one half undone bolt and the rest had dropped off somewhere.
