    Hi all

A few friends and me are going for a 3 night away from Brissy ride in late

Correction: "a few friends and _ I _ are going..."

    ========================================

This has been a public service announcement made in the interests of
stamping out boganspeak amongst motorcyclists. Please ignore this
message if your helmet has a Southern Cross or "Australia, love it or
leave it" adorning it, as you would be considered a lost cause and a
    person bringing motorcycling into disrepute.

Oh, are you going too, Gerry?

Eureka flag belt buckle, will that qualify me as a lost cause?

You should be correcting the far more common mistake of using "I" when
    it should be "me",
In the daily soaps for instance, close to 100% of the time they are
incorrect. As in "he is going out with Ken and I" (should be "me")

Day 1; leave early and go down through Numinbah Valley to Murwillumbah,
Kyogle, Grafton, Ebor and lunch at Armidale. Then Uralla and down the lovely
Thunderbolt's way to Gloucester then Dungog for the night. (several great
convivial hotels with cheap accom and meals).
Day 2 head back up Bukett's way to Taree and visit the Nabiac motorcycle
Museum before heading for Wauchope and the Oxley Hwy back to Walcha and
Uralla. Ride up the New England to Glen Innes for the night.
Day 3 take the Gwydir Hwy to Grafton then head back to Kyogle but continue
towards Woodenbong before turning at Lions Road and crossing the border and
heading for Beaudesert and back home.
    Happy trails!

Oops; for a 4-day trip day2 is Dungog to Singleton then Putty Rd to Colo,
have morning tea then turn around again and go back to Singleton.
Frankly I'd choose to retrace my steps back through Dungog and up to Nabiac
but you may prefer to go on the hwy.
Stay the night at Nabiac or Wauchope.
Day 3 do the Oxley and Gwydir Hwys (stay the night at Grafton).
Day 4 is Casino then the Bruxner Hwy to Tenterfield and then turn around and
go back to Tabulam and up to Urbenville and over Border Ranges to Beaudesert
    then home.

Do I resemble someone living in Brisvegas?
Depends. The Eureka flag has been hijacked by so many disparate
groups, it depends on which one you identify with.

Probably. YOu can wear that, I can wear my Eureka flag patch, and we
can both try and find a drinkable Australian beer...

Don't set me off again, Zebee!

Last visit to Adelaide, the pissing about trying to find Southwark Stout
    was just unbelievable. :-(

Most of the bottlos that I tried had never heard of it, and it is made
    in Adelaide.

Actually, now I remember, I do have a Eureka flag patch on my old
    Drizabone vest.

I don't recall the Southwark brewery making a stout ,but the Coopers
    brewery does.Good stuff too.

Oh, yes, the Coopers Stout is very good, but the Southwark one is more
of a "special treat" type stout.

It has a higher alcohol content, I can't remember the exact numbers, and
a slightly richer taste, with very pronounced chocolate after taste.

AFAIK it is still made, but, as I said, it's a challenge to find it,
    even in Adelaide.

Ah for the heady days in the Whitsundays of my youth. Illegally built
hut by the beach, freshly gathered oysters off the rocks, fresh white
bread and good butter, and a good stout. That combination is hard to
beat - we would often wonder what the Queen was eating.
