2nd hand sv, ebay

Just looking for an sv and I come across this one. Is it just me or does
anyone else get the feeling something has happened to this bike which he
isn't telling us about?

I asked the seller about it and all I got back was a sarky comment that
maybe his photography skills aren't up to my expectations and it was
just taken from a bad angle. Seeing the others with the dashboard in
place makes me think he's had a front end smash which he's neglecting to
tell us about:

Just the colour would stop me buying it, let alone anything else.

It's just you, I'm not surprised you got a peeved comment.
If the display had been moved up due to a smash, you would expect a
corresponding amount of space at the bottom?

 

You didn't notice the two different mileage readings then?

Must admit, I can't really see anything wrong with it apart from a
couple of scratches. What makes you think it's been smashed?

I'm not sure either. The only thing I can think is that the display
appears to be too high in the dash, but that would be due to the pics
being taken at different angles.

 

This is one of those, "Can this thread be deleted?" times.

 

Mash scribbled on the back of a napkin:

Both the lhs can and the lhs fairing supposedly have some "small marks"
on them and that fairing ones were done by the previous owner, but
strangely enough, nothing about the marks on the can?

Smells *very* fishy to me.

 

The picture is taken absolutely head on, there's no dodgey angle to
speak of. Im asking because when I smashed my first bike up in a
head-on, the entire contents of the dash shifted. The dashboard in the
auction is clearly messed up, the speed doesn't show 0mph it reads Umph.
If you'd bought that bike you would take it back if it were like that.
Which leads me to believe it must have been displaced in an accident of
some sort

 

No it's not. Look at the horizontal plastic bit below the right-hand
indicator warning light, & compare it to the other picture. The main
auction pic is clearly taken from a higher angle as you can't see the
bottom side of that plastic rib. My guess is the plastic facia thingy
is quite thick & therefore obscuring the top of the display.

Second hand fairings? As in replacements for the originals? Why?

 

The SV doesn't have a full fairing as std[1]. I'd assme that the seller is
claiming to have bought the 'fill-in' side panels 2nd hand, even though they
were damaged....
