    Hi,

The rear tyre of my Suzuki Maruader GZ125 is going to wear off. I called a
few motorshops to check about the price of the rear tyre. The price didn't
    vary a lot for a non-branded tyre.

There is an offered from one of the motorshops:
    Tyre brand: Pirelli
Price: Slightly lower than the first hand non branded tyre
Condition: 2nd hand, close to new. It was used for tubeless bike previously.
Reason why ex-owner discarded: Puncture by nail before. As the bike is using
tubeless tyre, so the owner changed it.
Reason why he offered this to me: My rear tyre is not tubeless and come with
internal tube so it doesn't matter whether it was punctured before as long
as the condition of the tyre is close to a new tyre with cheaper price.

This is my first time changing the tyre, can anyone comment on above?

    Thanks in advance,
    YC

    one.

As long as the puncture is not visible like a crack or open hole in the
second hand tyre, it sounds perfectly safe to me. (Considering that
your bike has tube type tyres as original equipment and is, frankly,
quite lame in power and speed performance.)

However, you should get a much lower price. I mean, if he can't sell
it to you my guess is that he could have it laying around for years
or throw it away - a good bargaining position for you.

Quite agree. I remember, decades ago, running a bike on a shoestring. No
money for decent clothing, or indeed decent anything. But I never dared
fit used tyres. If they're given free, or as cheap as makes no
difference, and you're really utterly skint, then maybe OK. Otherwise,
it just ain't really worth the risk.

Not when brand new tyres (albeit fairly horrible odd makes) for a 125
    cost so little.

"You discover the extreme precariousness of your six francs a day. Mean
disasters happen and rob you of food. You have spent your last eighty
centimes on half a litre of milk, and are boiling it over the spirit lamp.
While it boils a bug runs down your forearm; you give the bug a flick with
your nail, and it falls, plop! straight into the milk. There is nothing for
it but to throw the milk away and go foodless."

Some of us would eat the bug and consider it extra protein. Some of us would
throw a string type plug into a badly punctured, brand new tire and run in
    for 8000 miles.

  7. I know a UK duck breeding firm that exports all its ducks' feet to
    China.

Disgusting. Of course, I belong to an ethnic group that thinks pickeled pig
feet are heaven. And pickled lamb tongues. And headcheese. Damn, I'm
getting hungry. Have to stop at the market on the way to work.
