    hi

Any suggestions on a bike up to 25kw....thought about a trials/road bike for
    fun....any suggestions?

I know I'll have to wait a couple of years to get on anything bigger but
going this route saves me £400 on a direct access course on a 500 and it
    won't do me any harm...

    Cheers

I reckon a 25kw light bulb would be pretty bright

Any suggestions on the bikes ? I'm not really wanting a limited bike but
one that's naturally under the limit.

    cheers

Honda VTR250 (or whatever it is called in the UK). Great handling.

If you were in Spain, I'd tell you to buy a used 25kw restricted Suzuki
GS500 and sell it in a couple of years losing not much money. There a
few of them about which I remeber the successive list of owners :)

Kawasaki ER-5 restricted to 33bhp (not too much of a restriction) or a
Honda CB500. I prefer the ER-5, but it's swings and roundabouts. They
    look the same, too.

If you do opt for a CB500 then get the unfaired version as, to quote
Loz when I asked the same thing in February, "you *will* drop it and
it *will* look a mess afterwards." I'd probably stay away from the
Kawasaki GPZ500 for the same reason. The GPZ and he ER5 are the same
bike, but the ER5 is unfaired which means it's a lot cheaper to fix
after you drop it. Which you will do.

I think there are some grey 400cc imports. For practicality I'd
sggest a restricted 500cc or a 250cc. The 500cc will be better for
more speedy motorway use, as it'll get up to about 105 and then wont
    go any faster.
If you can then please just do the Direct Access route, if at all
possible, it'll save all of that heartache over the following six
months when you realise big bikes don't scare you and you really want
something even bigger to play with.

If you go the restricted route then fair enough. There were many
reasons why I went the restricted route, but I regret it now and I'm
contemplating shelling out for a full "AAS" course to flesh out my
licence to a full Class A. Either that or I'll have to wait another
1.5 years to get something bigger. I've outgrown my restrictor - it
was there to keep me out of trouble but after riding with it for over
seven thousand miles it's now mearly a frustration.

With a restricted licence it's difficult to (legally) "Can I Have A
Go, Mate?" and test drives at motorcycle dealers are troublesome, too.
