Yes it does - if your car has a defect leading to it showing X on the
dyno rather than Y, then that same defect might reduce the
effectiveness of a generic map / limit the amount of extra power
    extracted by a bespoke one.

I made some perfectly valid points... and here we are again, bods like
you and Colin sneering down their, (decidedly oversized in your case),
    noses at me.

If you've got a problem with what I post, not least the less
inflammatory stuff, feel free to do as others have done and put me in
    a killfile or whatever.

I assume you're taking the piss. Cadence braking involves using the
suspension to dissipate energy: smack 'em on hard so that the
suspension dives (but not so hard as to lock up); release to allow the
suspension to recover; smack 'em on again etc etc.

Works well in a car, have never had the bottle to really go for it on a
bike. Have used it successfully when negotiating steep downhills on an
overloaded CB750 on the way to a bike rally. Have left discernible
front tyre darkies from getting the braking about as hard as I'd ever
want it, however - three times.

Once trying to stoppie the RF: fail.
Once trying to stop before impacting the TNT van: fail.
Once when the RF inner fairing panel broke free at NSLx2+abit and
pivoting around its cable tie, applied the front brakes really quite
fucking hard without so much as a by-your-leave. Good darkie, really
good seat pucker, didn't die: result.

I cadence brake on the ST in wet weather emergency situations. Or rather I
practiced it a little and found it's a bike that doesn't try to tuck in.
Then when a car I was overtaking suddenly turned right on the A66 it got
used in anger and I didn't get side swiped, or rear end him and did get
round his nearside. I think with ABS I would have come to grief.

Some bikes do just want to tuck in though! On greasy roads and cool tyres
in shity weather how else do you know where the limit of adhesion is? As
Champ is a decent rider I'm interested in his (non track) opinion.

Well the Ducati certainly helps, I can think of one or two previous that
loved to tuck the front under.

Maybe what I'm doing isn't strictly Cadence braking but it comes jolly
    close.
The other lesson of experience is that first half second, building up the
pressure, rather than grabbing it in panic. Which relies on being 100%
alert and position aware and errrrrr not errrrrrrr looking errrrrrrrr at a

All very well in theory, and I have managed it a couple of times when I
was expecting to have to IYSWIM, except that I cocked up my have a go in
a rally car day by 'freezing' on the brake and pirouetting the totally
lacking in feedback (after an MX5 anyway) Focus. Also, the off in the
Alfa 75 when 'following' the RAC rally many years ago. Though I
attribute some culpability to shite Alfa brakes, shite sign posting by
the Highway Authority and shite on the road courtesy of a local farmer.

I've had a few tense microseconds braking on a bike when at the
hillclimbing. The Nordwest nearly had me a couple of times. Even a
couple of twitches from the front of the GFR at Cadwell recently, but
TBF the tyres were virtually new and the tarmac was far from hot. Having
said that all but one of my offs when circuit racing the 250 single were
under braking, so I'm clearly not very good at.

I was actually only thinking of manufacturers and race teams; I hadn't
considered the wider implications of tuning shops, which was a bit
    daft in the context.
    Oh, I'm sure that's true.

I took the easy option ans specified ABS on my Versys. It works.
