With 3 races to go who do you think will be the 2006 champ?
I think Rossi will get it, but it could be a close call for 2nd, if Melandri
has a strong last 3 races which is very possible and Hayden has poor
results, once again possible then Mel could steal 2nd from Hayden. A poor
result from Rossi and Hayden could even see Mel come out number 1, you just
never know, however my predictions are

    1: Rossi
    2:Hayden
    3: Melandri

  2. I think Nicky will pull it off by a hair's breath. Rossi will outrace
him in these last three, but not by enough, simply because others
(Melandri and Capirossi) look good. 7 points per race is pretty
tough. And while I'm a Rossi fan, I couldn't really complain if Nicky
    takes it.

I would, and so would Nicky.A Champion by default, not even Nicky would
be proud of himself. If he won fair and square ok, but to win by others
mechanical-failures,for mine is a unworthy Champion.

Rossi has lost around 70 points through no fault his own.2 engine
failures and tyre problems.[Lest he rides the machine to 100%+]

For mine i am looking at a Italian Trifecta, with Rossi/Marco/Loris in
    that order

Loris will win in Japan regardless

  4. Agree with you.
Beside the fact the Vale is still, by far, the best rider in the
circus, and that yamaha is not very efficent in the job to get closer
to Ducati and Honda, there's the guy on top (nicky) that is proving,
again, to be quite weak on a mental level.
If nicky wins the championship, he'll probably be the most anonymous
    champion since many years.
Hayden defenitely has to change dramatically his attitude, and shake
away that -I'm gonna keep a good pace and hope in someone else's gifts
(thanks, shinja, casey)- tactic that is going to bring him nowhere.
How many direct duels did nicky win this season? not many.
How many races did he win with no shade on it? One, at home, and still.
The fact is that all the best riders, on a one on one situation, would
    beat nicky.
    mmmmhhhhh.....

Yeah, I am getting sick of people saying the Edwards' results indicate
the level of the Yamaha. Not only is he definitely not on Rossi's bike,
but I am not sure of the ability of Edwards. When he was with Honda
he was one of the worst Honda riders (but did ok in points because
he rarely crashes or DNFs). Edwards doesn't indicate the level of
the Yamaha any more than Tamada does the Honda

well you guys are wrong on this one.
I never took colin's results to indicate yamaha's performance, simply
because is not indicative at all.

I was just saying, all in all, that a pilot who ends 3 times in second
positions, 4 times third, 3 times fifth, plus a couple of nasty races
where he is just nowhere, is not a pilot that deserves to win a
    championship title.
Everytime, and mark, this is a fact, that nicky was in touch with
another guy for a battle, he lost it and felt ok with "the points".
Hayden, despite your comments and conspiracy ideas, is nowadays nothing
more than a very talented but still a "young" pilot, that needs some
more experience and rage in order to get really up there.
He might win the title, and I'd be very happy for him, but he's not
going to leave that "great champion" idea, that "dominator" impression
that we're used to feel when there's someone out there really above the
    rest.
Vale in GP, Pedrosa in 250 for instance, and many others recently.

Finally, sorry but the "European" thing is pure crap: i just think
about YOUR guys called Lawson, Rainey, Schwantz, or Doohan and Gardner,
or Sheene and Spencer...they were people who DARE, nicky still is not.

Before Motegi I would have said Hayden for the championship. After
Motegi I say Rossi will get it. If the next race is a repeat of this
one, then they'll be pretty well even stevens, and that would be it
    more or less.

Just to be different, I'm going to predict that LC will continue his
    form and beat Melandri.

    1: Rossi
    2: Hayden
    3: Capi

    RUBBISH,

His bike set us is totally different to Rossi's.There would be very
little cross over, different style too

Ones a GOAT the other will be getting the boot, out of his depth

    OUT!

,( a good one too) whether it's tires, engines, or swing

yeah, but if yamaha spent a little time making the edwards bike
better, maybe he would be finishing in front of hayden more and
rossi would be in the lead right now.

    Paul B asks:
Hayden is discovering that the FIM points structure doesn't
reward consistancy as much as the AMA does. The points
spread between consecutive positions is greater until you get
down to 5th to 6th when both go to 1 point per position. AMA
does it at 4th to 5th actually.

He has proven to me that he doesn't have what it takes to
beat Rossi, despite having the best bike in the earlier part
of the season. He and the team seem to have gotten out
in the weeds with it, and the clutch, and they haven't
been able to pull off Rossi/Burgess race day warmup
miracles. And Hayden seems incapable of pulling the
trigger and turning off his brain when that's all that will
    win the day.

Oh well. Sorry Nicky, my money's on Rossi. If you
and the team don't figure out the clutch, you might
not even end second. If you do figure it out, you still
    need to beat Rossi.

Even when Pedrosa helps out (if he has the chance to
    do it nonchalantly).

Hayden is a test mule. Edwards is a test mule.

Dudes, get serious: every damn MotoGP rider is a friggin' test mule.

I mean, yawn. This bullshit about the poor Americans being exploited. You
guys know how many excellent riders all these factories employ that just
ride around circuits within 1s of the top times, guys that never get to
    actually compete?

This excuse making for Edwards is getting pathetic. He fell off the cliff,
period. He's a better rider than he's shown to be this year. It's a shame.
Perhaps he can be Chcea's team mate next year... and then the claim will be
he's Dunlop's test mule for Checa. Riiiight.
