I certainly don't - women are definitely for looking at too.

so if the latest, greatest, fastest, best-handling, most "dangerous"
sportsbike turned out to look like a Harley, would you still want one?

    Yes.

Look, the appearance of a motorcycle does have some small impact on
me, but given that it is by definition subjective, I see little point
    in discussing it.

Having a nicely turned out race bike is important if trying to attract
sponsorship, for the way you get treated by officials and scrutineers,
and the quality of the photos (which reminds me :
    http://racer.smugmug.com/gallery/158311).

In fact, it's a condition of entry at the Manx Grand prix that
machines are in "good cosmetic condition".

I'm interested in aethetics, ergonomics and design. You're clearly
    not.

Hmm. I'd like to think I'm interested ergonomics and design. But
someone likes the look of a fairing with a lip at the front strikes me
    as a pretty unrewarding discussion.

Actually, I think it looks rather good, the bronze engine isn't a big
thing, the gold forks are a bit... but on the whole it really looks
competent. Whether that's because its black or not I can't say.

The exhaust could do with re-thinking; a nice pair of Dunstalls is what
    it needs. http://www.sweller.dynalias.org/images/dunstall.gif

It's an apparently simple system that has the same effect as a slipper
clutch. I believe it's triggered by inlet vacuum, but don't know the
    details.

Because if it looks nice I start slavering and muttering "Gimme gimme".

That's the one. Now that you've refreshed my knackered grey cells, I
remember Toby Moody explaining it exactly that way on Eurosport many
    moons ago.
