Yes. And I can't even recite my times tables, [1] I failed me CSE maths. I don't have a diary therefore I can't 'look it up' to convert. Where's my calculator? Thanks. I'll have forgotten that by the time this is sent. I just have no grasp of figures whatsoever. It's known as discalculea (being discalculic as opposed to dyslexic, see). [1] Obviously the easy ones with even numbers, I can only get so far with the odds. -- Lesley ZXR400SP "Not bad for a Scouser" SBS#11[with oak-leaf cluster] BOTAFOT#101A UKRMHRC#12 BONY#54P BOB#18 Un-cork me to reply
Q. You have Internet access ? QED: http://www.scottishindoorbowls.org.uk/formula.htm and http://www.ex.ac.uk/cimt/dictunit/ccleng.htm etc
Oh yes, well of course if I wanted to google for something to assist I am naturally going to think, 'ooh, Scottish Indoor Bowls will be able to help me'. -- Lesley ZXR400SP "Not bad for a Scouser" SBS#11[with oak-leaf cluster] BOTAFOT#101A UKRMHRC#12 BONY#54P BOB#18 Un-cork me to reply
Not any more. Since getting the Suzuki and the Peugeot 206cc (with full function trip computer) I've even gone metric on that. Although I can still convert to mpg for comparison purposes on here, for example.
Thinking about it, I can do distance and speed in metric or imperial (same thing, innit) but I struggle with kilometres/litre.
The normal measure, as I'm sure you know, is litres/100km, which requires a but of a shift in calculation methods, but isn't too hard once you get used to it.
DangerScouse fascinated us all by saying... I suffer with that too. I failed the simple arithmetic test to work for London Underground.
Can you think of any rough measures that make the calculation easy - just until I get used to it? For example, if it doesn't come naturally, I convert a distance at a rough guide of 100km = 60 miles or 100 miles = 160km.
That's actually pretty accurate, particularly the latter. For mpg, I've got a couple of benchmarks for the Peugeot: 9l/100km~=32mpg, 10 is 28. The suzuki does about 220km to warning light, at about 14 litres, which I just work back to 200 and about 13, hence 6.5 ish. The actual figure would be 6.4, or about (gets calculator out) 45mpg.
Absolutely, and Jude (whose car it is) has absolutely no problem with that. The red & black leather is particularly cute. I still have the volvo XC, which whatever it may or may not be, is certainly not a girlie car
**** that. I'd rather trundle downstairs and retrieve the proper one from the living room. -- Lesley ZXR400SP "Not bad for a Scouser" SBS#11[with oak-leaf cluster] BOTAFOT#101A UKRMHRC#12 BONY#54P BOB#18 Un-cork me to reply
I'll try to memorise those and metricise myself. [/QUOTE] All over? -- Lesley ZXR400SP "Not bad for a Scouser" SBS#11[with oak-leaf cluster] BOTAFOT#101A UKRMHRC#12 BONY#54P BOB#18 Un-cork me to reply
I use this bit of software for conversions. V. useful. http://www.joshmadison.com/software/convert/ Anyway, I'm off to Italy, specifically Naples and Pompeii. If only we were going in a bus. #we're all going on a..
