If the oil viscosity changes when it is warm/hot to allow it to better move
around inside the engine than when it is cold, it'll probably be more inclined
to fall out of the drain hole when it is warm/hot also.

I changed the clutch fluid on my ZZR250 after 3000Km, and
it was as black as a black man's black ass on a dark night,
but when I finished that, and went around the other side
and drained the oil out of the sump, that was spotlessly
clean - like it had never been used.

Oh well, there's your problem right there: It's a Jap bike with
4500km, so it's barely a week away from the scrapyard now!
Tsk!. It's buggered all right. Tell you what, I'll take it off your
hands for $500 - and I'm only going to the trouble because you seem to
be a likeable chap. I might get some of my money back by stripping it
    and selling it for spares...

So far as I knew oil goes black because it's a detergent. The black
is caused by all of the microscopic bits of metal swarf from the
bearings and soot and other assorted gunk that's being held in
suspension by the oil. Presumably if it *didn't* get held in
suspension then you'd have to unbolt the sump and scrape the gunk off
it every couple of oil changes.

Maybe they should use that oil that Peter Brock uses. He reckons that
other oils are made of dirt and his isn't....

What is this, literal week? I'm talkin' 'bout the fluid
the clutch is bathed in, not the, er, cable that operates
    the... oh, forget it.

Actually, I did the oil change this afternoon when I got
home from work. The bike has 4200Km on it, and that set of
oil had only 3000Km on it. The oil was as black as shit.

"My mate has the same bike, and he changed the oil too,
    and his was black too"

Have Kawasaki sold us dud bikes, or should me and my mate
just get a room? (booth?). Or is this black oil thing a
    big Honda/Kawasaki conspiracy?

    particularly serious...
    I doubt it...

One of those kilo bags of licorice from Darrel Lea will
    do it!

I reckon it will last, literally, a week.

  18. So, you don¹t know, or haven't measured it? Or both?
What? The friction is going to stop being a factor if you ride less than
    moderately?
Why do you need to dump it earlier? Why is using a semi synth important?
