I expect Barry is very grateful for that.

Pip emerged from their own little world to say
Yes I would happily assess whether the bike is restricted or not.

As it happens, I'm popping back to NP7 tomorrow so will have access to the
bike & gear for the weekend.

Let me know if you would like to meet up somewhere.

Alternatively, I live in Roath in Cardiff so you could pop around sometime.
I note your Mgom office is only a couple of miles away.

  4. Even with 33bhp it should still be good for 90-odd mph.

Thanks for the offer. Not needed now though. I took the advice here and
had a go in my lunch hour - I am now satisfied the bike has no restriction
and will comfortably (probably not the right word to use) do 70mph in 3rd
gear and more once you shift up.

I am convinced however, that 6th gear is pants.

  10. Speaking of which I got some rather nice Port t'other day. And I appear
to have one less bottle than was delivered.

I think it must be evaporating. Or the dog is drinking it. Or
    shomething..

'sokay now. It was my riding style not the bike that was at fault.

    Don't use it then

In the news today the RAC and AA both claimed a record number of
motorbike callouts for "and then the valves just shot out of the engine".

Heh. I think its about 60-70 mph in second on the Guzzi.

heh. On the gixxer, it's about 120mph.
On the ZX-10R, its about 105mph on the clock in 1st.

Never gets boring, but I would love to see what the 2005 GSXR1000 will be
    able to do.

Um.. it should do a lot more than 70 in third gear - you should be able to
do 70 in second without hitting the redline.
See above - unless you're on the motorway, or doing 120mph, sixth _won't_ be
responsive gear... the Hornet 600 I had made it's 'fun' power from 11000 -
14000 up until then it was a bit bland - bit more exciting round there
    though.

Consider what 14000 in 6th is going to be though speed wise... :)

(FWIW, my 600 doesn't really make it's full go until above 11000 and it
manages 96mph in second. Highest speed seen was 164mph indicated, and that
    was in 5th....)
