2-wheel drive R1

  1. Yamaha's been working on a 2-wheel drive for almost 20 years, according to
    this web site report:

    http://www.gizmo.com.au/public/News/news.asp?articleid=2351

They've got a 2-wheel drive WR450F running in the Dakar rally currently,
and have done a number of tests on a 2-wheel drive R1. Uses a hydraulic
drive for the front wheel, and the amount of front wheel drive is
proportional to the rear wheel speed and slip. Pretty kewl.

Speaking of the Dakar rally, I've not been able to find decent web
coverage, specifically a site that reports the motorcycle standings by
stage, along with times. I'm curious how the bike times compare to the
cars, trucks and quads. It may be in the official Dakar site, but damned
if I can find it. Any pointers?

  2. I knew that was going to cause confusion.

What I meant, and should have written, was that I've done a google search,
and found the official Dakar site, but it is pretty much useless for
finding any real information as to rally results. It may be somewhere on
this site, but I sure can't find it.

Any pointers to where times can be found, on the dakar.com site, or elsewhere?

    elsewhere?

It's all right there just a click away.

Standings ... bikes, cars, trucks ... click away and you'll find results,
start time, finish time, stage times, overall, so on. Go ahead and click,
    it won't hurt you.

  4. Damn it all to hell, there ain't no friggin' place to click. I think I've
been microslobbed. Not running any ms stuff, and I don't think the site is
loading according to the html bible. I dunno, but I'll try on my
daughter's machine and see if IE can display these hidden clickers.

    Grrr.

  5. it worked in Firebird for me.

as of Stage 8 (today), the top 20 overall results are...

    bike...

    and monstertrucks...
(there are only 14 trucks in the standings)

so, at this point, the top few bikes are in between Cars 4 and 5, about
1:30 back from the lead cars.... The trucks are way back (and quite
    spread out...)
