Today the Zephyr is booked in for new tyres and fork seals, so I took it to
work, with a view to leaving early to get it into my man at Oxford. Rush
hour M40 / M25 / M4 to Brentford certainly is a hoot, particularly in the
fog. Despite it's portly girth, I was amazed at how narrow a gap I could
get the old barge through whilst filtering through the queues. I'll
definitely do it again, but not on a regular basis as the round trip is
    nearly a tankfull of juice.

Then this afternoon, on to Oxford to drop the bike off, to be collected by
my lad on the NSR. I had to ride it home with him as pillion, we must have
looked quite comedic. After riding the Zephyr, the little Honda felt like
sitting on a razor blade, but it managed to cope with us both, despite a
    very slappy chain.

Hopefully, I'll pick the Zephyr up on Saturday, with new Avon AV45/46's
fitted, and non weepy forks (as well as collecting SWMBO's Megane from the
garage, bloody thing expired on Monday, and is going to cost £1100.00 quid
    to rectify [1])

[1] new flywheel, new starter motor.

Seems the reason it is so much is due to it being an auto.

Having looked under the bonnet there's no way I'm fiddling with it.

It used to be that you could replace the starter ring around the
    flywheel.

Well, you were 100% right with your costings.

The old flywheel was, erm, interesting.

About 20 teeth chewed right off.
